I have two homeschooling kids.

Don’t worry:  They are not abandoned while I teach public school.  They receive their assignments weekly via e-mail, and every day, they send me information on what they have accomplished.  (If they don’t, they have the privilege of finishing their work in the evening, after I get home.)  Their grandparents, across the street, help out if they run into any non-academic difficulties.

Today, I got an e-mail from my 12-year-old:

bababababababaabababababaababababababaabbababababbababaab 😛 🙂 :3
WUV YOU! IAM FEELING VERY RANDOM TODAY!
I GUESS THAT’S A GOOD THING!

THIS IS PROBABLY SPAM!
SO I WILL MAKE IT USEFUL!
(She proceeded to include her grammar assignment.)
I read this e-mail during 4th hour, after working on my grade book, making up a worksheet for remedial algebra, and cleaning up some other basic housekeeping activities, while my class was engaged in “silent, sustained reading”.  It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud.
With a big grin on my face, I replied to her e-mail:
Did you realize you had a “fish” in your fourth line of randomness?
Love you!
I sent the e-mail and proceeded to hand out remedial algebra worksheets, not checking my e-mail again until after school was out.
No I didn’t! LOL  love you!

I wish I could be at home with my daughters, but at least we can still share silly jokes and hugs via e-mail.
