To be honest, I don’t exactly remember when I wrote this. I do know that I took the original phrase off Hamlet, sort of. It’s just kind of fun.
Good Night, Sweet Princess, by Anneliese Kvamme
Good-night, sweet princess,
lay your fair head
Upon pillows of down on
your virginal bed,
And dream of the glittering
stars in your eyes–
Far grander and brighter
than those in the skies–
The nightingales hover,
their vigil to keep,
Lest tears should spring forth
from your eyes as you sleep.
And slowly and gently each
breath you take,
‘Til morning birds coaxingly
sing you awake.
