This was written while I was in college, still doing freestyle poetry. I have actually used this in my sophomore English class, without telling them the author, asking them to find an example of a simile and personification within the poem.
The Solace, by Anneliese Kvamme
When I cry,
the night enfolds me
like a lover,
quietly caressing
until I sleep
Then wipes the tears from
my eyes.
the night enfolds me
like a lover,
quietly caressing
until I sleep
Then wipes the tears from
my eyes.
